NJ Middle School Championship @ MCASMET, 3/12/16

Post by snadkarni »

The Middlesex County Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Technologies in Edison, NJ is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the New Jersey Middle School State Championship on Saturday March 12th, 2016!

Both new and experienced teams are welcome to attend. We will use a National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT) middle school set, and further information on the set distribution can be found here, specifically we will be using MS-#18. The field cap is currently 24 teams. Teams will be limited to 6 people at maximum, and schools planning to bring more than 6 students must register multiple teams. During the rounds, up to 4 students are permitted to play at any given time, and up to 2 students can sub out at halftime. Teams are also allowed to have fewer than 4 people.

Logistics:
Registration will begin at 8:15 AM, and the opening meeting will start at 9:00 AM. We will explain the rules and regulations for new Quizbowl teams, and breakfast will be provided. Pizza will be available to order for lunch at $10/pie, or students may bring lunch with them. The tournament will be held at MCASMET (100 Technology Drive, Edison, NJ 08837). Our tournament is set for March 12th (with March 26th as a snow date).

We are looking for 24 teams to fill up the bracket.

Fees:
Registration fees per team:
$70 for the first team from a school and $60 for each additional team

Discounts:
-$15 per each working buzzer set

Registration fees can be paid through cash or by check. Checks should be made payable to “Middlesex County Academy” with your school’s name and registration fee in the memo line. While payment the day of the tournament is preferable, mailing it in advance will work as well. Anything sent via mail should be addressed to Middlesex County Academy Quizbowl c/o Amro Mosaad at 100 Technology Drive, Edison, NJ 08837.

Affiliation:
The top teams will qualify for NAQT's Middle School National Championship Tournament (MSNCT) to be held in Atlanta in May 2016.
