I assume there are other people, not all of whom are Marnold, who feel similarly. If you're on the Eastern Seaboard and have the desire to run an August mirror of the tournament, please let me know!

I'd also love to line up mirrors in other regions. There's an announcement for a mirror at ULL, but perhaps there is also enough interest to have mirrors in the West, Texas, Canada, in the more eastern part of the South, or elsewhere.
Would be interested in an East Coast mirror!
As I had to drop out of the main site, I'd also be interested in an east coast mirror.

If an East Coast mirror is a fairly guerilla thing, I'd be happy to read for it if a bus ticket and a couple slices of pizza or something are in it.

I may be interested in playing in an East Coast mirror depending on what weekend it is.

The last round finishes shortly. The winner of the tournament will be determined solely by the winner of the My Facility with GJR-GARCH Models v. The Proximal Cause of a Consortio Interruptus matchup.

After tossup 16, My Facility with GJR-GARCH Models led The Proximal Cause of a Consortio Interruptus by 310 to 160. Then Mike Cheyne got the last 4 tossups, powering 3, they managed two 20s and two 30s on the bonuses, and won—315 to 310.

Playoff stats.

The other players on Yogesh's team would like to collectively apologize for not playing well enough to seem him dominate the top bracket of this tournament.

This set was about the most fun I've had playing a tournament in a while. Just excellent; I hated to leave early and look forward to another iteration.

I think I can speak for all the writers (even NOT Cory Haala) to say that seeing such a positive reception to our tournament warms the very cockles of our hearts. Thanks so much to everyone for playing it; I can only hope you all had as much fun as we did writing it. Thanks also to all of our intrepid tournament staffers, especially beloved Hero of Socialist Quizbowl Labor Cody Voight, who ran stats and facilitated logistics with characteristic aplomb.

The set isn't clear yet, since we're planning on a series of mirrors for those who couldn't make it to CO; I'll have a discussion forum up for it tomorrow or so. Please email me if you have already played the tournament and would like a copy of the set.

Last but not least, don't forget: we'll meet again in two years.

I really appreciated all the decisions made by the writers of this tournament, especially the decision not to involve Cory Haala. In particular I'd like to single out the sports as worthy of praise; the early clues of sports tossups did an excellent job of rewarding the sorts of things that people with deep knowledge might know rather than just throwing out pointless minutia.

One of the best things about this tournament was the current events stuff and the way it was written. Both trash and non-trash events should use this set as an object lesson for how to write about current events and reward people who keep up to date with the news.

I'm interested to hear what kinds of questions you liked that were more current-events flavored (obviously this would have to go in the discussion forum and not here). This is somewhat for us-aggrandizing purposes, but more because I'm interested to hear what specifically you liked about the questions so we can try to bake that goodness into the next set (and other, more serious future sets with CE and "other" distributions).

Just echoing the consensus that this tournament was muy excelente. Quality. And there were several questions in this set that made me want to cry tears of joy --including one that made my teammate cry literal tears.

If you're interested in playing this tournament on Skype, fill out this poll: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... g/viewform

If enough people are interested, we'll see if there's a good time to host a Skype mirror.

So far, 11 people have expressed interest. I think it makes sense to have at least four teams, so please fill out the above form if you'd like to play. I'll leave it open another couple of days and email the people who respond to figure out whether we have enough numbers, and if so, decide on a date.

Packets!!!

The posted version of the set is the one used at the main site (though the factual error introduced to round 13 by the well-meaning but ultimately fiendish Carsten Gehring has been corrected).
