AARDVARK: An Arthur MiniTournament

At the request of my teammate, I would like to announce Anthropomorphic Animals Randomly Demonstrating Victory over Arthur Read Knowledge, a tournament that makes no reference to terrible Arthur memes.

AARDVARK is a 3-packet mini tournament of 20/20, which was originally written to decide which of my high school teammates knew the most about everyone's favourite aardvark. That said, it's pretty hard with some ridiculous answerlines. A rough (like really) distribution of the tossups is as follows:

6 Characters and animals
3 Locations
4 Items, objects, and entities
2 Action
2 Events
1 Episode
1 Group
1 Other

AARDVARK was completed between Spring 2015 and Fall 2016, and played on Boxing Day 2016 by my old Norcross teammates (and Packet 1 by David of Rutgers at HSNCT 2017), and was received pretty well. Clues are predominantly from the first 10 seasons of the show, with only 1 tossup requiring knowledge of only post-Season 10 episodes. If this set sounds like something you'd love to play on the Skype, or at your summer side event, let me know! I'd be interested in hosting AARDVARK sometime in mid-July to early August.

EDIT: I'm thinking of potentially hosting this the weekend of July 14. Please sign up here, and tell me which day and a general time you'd like to play.

I'm a huge fan but also bad at qb, would love an irc or skype readthrough.

Glad its season 10 and before. Ladonna gets on my nerves.

There's a podcast about a year old called Elwood City Limits that is hosted by two Canadians in their mid 20s and I would recommened it for sure. They point out a lot of things only older people would get (which is why this show is such a gem)

I loved this show, and now there's this? I better learn how to use IRC. I finally have an excuse to binge watch this show!!!

I would like to play this on Skype.

However, disappointed that there's no memes.

I have no clue either, which is why this will probably be on Skype.

I'll definitely check this out!

Follow this link, choose a nickname, and hit "Go". You now know how to use IRC.

Oh yes, AARDVARK will be played at Toronto's HSNCT mirror this Sunday.

I will most likely host the Skype session on the afternoon/early evening of Saturday, July 15th. Let me know if there's any issues with this

That 100% doesn't work for me and (more importantly), it looks like there's a major tournament that day: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20139

Obviously, that's not inherently a reason not to host it that day if there's little overlap in fields, but unless you already know who's attending and when they can make it, it might be helpful to do a date poll.

Edit: I missed the sign-up spreadsheet above, sorry! I can do Sunday afternoon (the 16th) if that might be possible.

This was really fun. I'll pm you some minor comments. My favourite moment was when Ted asked me a content question before the tournament, I said idk, and of course it shows up and neither of us or others in the room know the answer.

What's the online format going to be? We did tossups only, so if bonuses are gonna be done as speedchecks or as a group consultation, I'll drop by.

Thanks for the set and I look forward to the next one.

Glad to hear this went well in Toronto, I'll gladly take any feedback you or anyone else has. I don't know when the next one will be thought

For this weekend, please respond with your two preferred times. The format will probably be individual tossups, with bonuses heard after each tossup and answered by everyone. That is unless people would want to play in random teams? If Canadian players want to hear the bonuses, I'd love to have you guys as well.

Charles, if the most popular time is Saturday, and you can't make it, I'd be willing to hold another session later in the month

My preferred time (I don't really have two) is any time after 3 PM on Sunday.

Unfortunately, I don't believe I will be able to host tonight. If possible, I'd like to reschedule for next weekend. Let me know if this is an issue

Uh...Chicago Open?

EDIT: I would much prefer to postpone for an hour or something until you're available and just do it tonight, because it's harder to schedule on weekdays.

I only played like the first five tossups due to me being on a bus with bad wifi that kept cutting out and interrupting the game. I'd be interested in playing this if there is another site.

I am working on Arthur tossups as I watch episodes here and there (err... way too often, probably). I will announce when a well balanced set comes out of it. Collabs welcome.
