Home school

Post by tiwonge »

Has anybody tried to reach out to home schooled students?

I sent an invitation to somebody in the home school community, and she said she'd forward it to her list of contacts. We'll see if anything comes of it. (I think she said that her sons had already graduated high school, but otherwise they'd have been interested.)

One home school association from somewhere in the Dakotas - Sioux Falls, I think - used to go to HSNCT, if I remember correctly...

Convent Christian Academy from Huntsville AL is a home school group based at a local church. They do pretty well and went to HSNCT in 2009.

We had one fall into our laps (well it helps that he went to nationals as a home school group, and ended up on our email list because of it). I would say that home schoolers who are serious (in this sense that is very related to good) about quiz bowl will be more likely to continue on. But obviously just like any other demographic of quiz bowlers it's hit or miss whether they want to continue on into college.
