Burnout
Burnout
I'm not sure if this is an acceptable topic or if it is in the right place, but occasionally this year I have really struggled with quizbowl burnout--not wanting to write questions, not wanting to attend tournaments, etc. While part of it is due to things specific to my own life, I don't think this is that uncommon (and indeed, we are all very busy people). I was wondering if people had any thoughts on this issue and how perhaps to deal wtih it in order to remain active and contributing members of a quizbowl community.

Re: Burnout
I think tournaments still need officiators.
I suffered some degree of burnout from question writing after my attempt to write both for Missouri and Virginia, balancing that with an infant and a realization that where my wife and I were living was not the right place for a family.
I was able to reduce my commitment by doing the paperwork side of quizbowl; in your case, you could perhaps continue to help at tournaments, or reduce your question-writing commitments to where you are very good.
