Michigan State's March Madness Invitational

Post by WinterSpartan »

Michigan State University's Academic Competition Club is now taking registration for the March Madness Invitational, scheduled for March 24, 2012.

This tournament will be an untimed NAQT event, and will be using questions from [IS-115]. It will consist of a divisional round robin, followed by a re-bracketed round robin for playoffs, and each team can expect to play approximately 10 games. The field cap has yet to be determined and will be based on the number of staffers we have available. Registration will take place from 8:15 to 8:45, and we plan on starting matches at 9:00.

Tournament Fees:
First team: $70
Additional teams: $60
Buzzer discount: -$10 per functional set
Distance discount: -$10 per 100 miles (one way), by Google Maps
Staffing discount: -$10 if at least one coach/parent helps read questions
Minimum per team: $30

Please make checks payable to MSU Academic Competition Club, and please pay upon arrival, or in advance. Please email us at [email protected] to register, or if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Sorry for the delay, here's the field:

Novi 2
Cabrini
Lansing Homeschoolers
Central
Thurston 2
Sand Creek
Skyline
DCC 4
Hillsdale Academy
Springport
Okemos 2
Sand Creek
Divine Child 2
Utica
Holt
International Academy East 2

We've reached our temporary cap of 24, but we are planning on expanding the field as soon as we're certain that we have enough staff available, so we encourage teams to take a place on the waitlist. Also, any team that is able to bring a moderator to help gets a $10 discount and automatic entry for up to two teams.

DCC A cleared the field to win. DCD A beat Olmsted Falls in a second place game. UD Jesuit, DCC B, and Skyline were also in the top bracket.

Stats, for all games except the second place tiebreaker. Post, or E-mail us if you have any issues, if noone does we'll send them on to NAQT.

Not that it really matters, but I have myself going 3-4-1 in the first game. I'm guessing those other tossups went to my team mates stats on accident.

In our game against U of D, we went 10/3/2 (I was 6/1/2, everyone else is fine), so we had 330 bonus points from 13 tossups heard. Also, I'd appreciate it if my name was spelled properly (Siddhant).
Thanks for a great tournament.

EDIT: Er this post might make me seem really haughty or something, which was definitely not my intention. Sorry if it came across that way.

Just noting that you put the date in as March 24th, 2002.
