Third Annual MOQBA Singles Championship at MU (5/19/2012)

Postby Horned Screamer » Thu Feb 09, 2012 2:08 am

Hello,

I am pleased to announce the return of the MOQBA Singles Championship for its third incarnation, to be held immediately after the 2012 Pre-Nationals Tournament at MU. This is a tournament where students play solo against each other in games that are 20 tossups long. Last year we had 16 players in the field and hope to match that number. This tournament will use questions from the Rockford Auburn RAVE tournament, if we get their approval for a mirror. The entry fee will be $8 per player. Because this event will only use tossups, it should run very fast. We hope to have it completed by no later than 6:30. Also, because MSHSAA jurisdiction only involves team-based events, this will not count towards a player’s 14 tournament limit.

If you are interested in registering for this tournament, or you have any questions, please email me at CharlesDeesMOQBA@gmail.com.

I hope to see you here in May!

12 players stuck around after Pre-Nationals to play this tournament, which was won by Ben Zhang from Ladue with a 9-0 record, beating Itamar Naveh-Benjamin from Hickman in the final. Oakville's Michael Menkhus rounded out the top 3. The statistics are here - http://www.hsquizbowl.org/db/tournament ... all_games/
