Richard Montgomery High School will host its first afterschool tournament, RichMo Stakes, on November 9. 2004. We welcome any teams able to make it to the school by 3:30 pm.
Format: double round robin. Everyone will be placed in brackets of four teams each, where you will play three preliminary games. Teams will then be seeded for playoffs brackets, also in groups of four, based on record and total points. Everyone plays another round robin. A game is forty tossups, each 3-4 lines long. All questions are house written. Conferring is allowed at all times.
Cost: $30 per team. Discounts are $5 for each additional team sent from a school (e.g., all B and C teams) and $5 for each functional buzzer system.
Registration: Email Daniel_McKenna -at- fc.mcps.k12.md.us. Tournament size is capped at 12 teams, so register early.
If you have any questions, email me (contrasedative -at- gmail) or post a reply here.

Because of the way prelims are done, it's better to have a field size that's a multiple of four. Twelve seemed a likely number, but if there's a lot more interest, we do have the resources to increase it to sixteen or twenty.
Oh, and it'll start around 3:30, not 3:00 (as originally stated).

Great tournament, well run and I really liked the round robin format. Whipple says he might steal it if we run a tournament. Questions were the best I have heard this year, well-written and good distribution too (Gotta love it when you hear questions on both G-Unit and peroxisomes). Anyway, congrats on running an excellent tournament.
