The Cornell University Quizbowl Club would like to invite your high school to
the 2012 NAQT Upstate New York State Championship on Saturday, April 21st at
Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. This tournament is a Quizbowl
competition where your academic team will face off many times against teams
across New York. This tournament can be considered a competitive warm-up for
Masterminds or the NAC or Scholastic Scrimmage. The winner automatically qualifies
for NAQT's High School National Championships, which drew 200 teams from
across the country this year. Also, any other teams in the top 15% of the competition are
placed on the waitlist for the competition.

Questions:
Questions will be provided by National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT), a
company that specializes in writing quality academic quizbowl questions for both
collegiate and high school competitions across the United States. We will be
using the IS-116 packets, so if you are attending another tournament with the
same packets, you will unfortunately not be able to attend ours. This can be
checked at http://naqt.com/schedule.jsp?hs=yes

Rules

:
The tournament will follow all NAQT rules, which can be read here:
http://www.naqt.com/rules.html

Costs

:
There will be a registration fee of $60 for the first team from your school,
and $30 for any additional teams you wish to send. There will be a $10 discount
for each working buzzer system your school brings. There will also be a $10
discount for teams traveling 200 miles or more. Discounts are capped at $20
More information about payment will be sent to teams that are interested in the tournament.

Registration:
To officially register for the tournament please email the name of your school,
number of teams, whether you are bringing a buzzer system, and the name and
contact information of the team's coach to tcr36@cornell.edu. At the moment there is no limit
to the number of teams, but if we are forced to have one, it will be on a first come, first serve basis.
If you have any questions about the tournament or format, feel free to email tournament director Tejas Raje at tcr36@cornell.edu.
