BISB at Haverford PA 11/16/13 (HS)

The Haverford Quiz Bowl Team is pleased to announce the BISB at Haverford for Saturday, November 16, 2013.
The tournament will be held at Haverford College, Haverford PA, in Stokes Hall. The tournament center, registration, and the opening meeting will be held in the Stokes Auditorium.

Attendees can park for free in the Visitor's Parking lot.

Lunch is available at the Haverford Dining Center (located right next to Stokes Hall) for $10.95 a person. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own food or travel to one of the many restaurants nearby (McDonald's, Chipotle, etc.)

Registration begins at 8:00 am and closes at 9:00 am. Please arrive by this time. The competition is expected to run into the late afternoon, though this is dependent on the number of teams signed up.

Registration costs $65. There is a $5 discount for teams that bring buzzer systems and a $10 discount for teams that bring a moderator. Checks should be made out to "Haverford College." Cash is also acceptable. All payment is due on the morning of the tournament.

The Field is capped at 14 teams. The tournament format will be determined once we have a definite number of teams, but we expect to play several round robin matches in the morning, followed by single or double elimination rounds in the afternoon. Consolation rounds will be available to teams out of the competition. Each round will consist of 20 tossups and 20 bonuses, and will not be timed.

Thanks to Haverford for running this tournament! It was a lot of fun to play...one thing I must comment on however was the time we got out for lunch...maybe in the future the prelims should be split after say round 5 to allow teams to go to lunch in a more timely fashion. Besides that, the tournament was very well run and we enjoyed playing it!
