Traditional powers: Salem-Salem, Blacksburg, Heritage-Lynchburg (The Salem-Salem thing is due to the presence of Salem-Virginia Beach). Salem's team defeated Marian Suter's excellent Spotswood team to win the state title in 2003.eclinchy wrote:I talked to a member of the Albemarle team yesterday... they won the Northwest in Group AAA. GW-Danville took second place.
Does anyone know anything about the Region III teams in AA?
Last year Jefferson Forest and Heirtage qualified for states.

Congratulations to Freeman on a well played match. They beat us (Maggie Walker) on the last question

The field is now complete. Luray's trip to states was most unusual, they finished last in the Shenandoah District regular season but then proceeded to win the District tournament, and now have finished second in the Region tournament. Interestingly enough, they seemed to do much better on the VHSL questions than the Patrick's Press questions used during the regular season.
The Shenandoah District contains strong teams such as past state champion Buffalo Gap, and past region representatives Wilson Memorial and Riverheads.
