That's why I was wondering about the conversion stats. Both of those powermarks seemed very generous. I suppose Constantine's was to a slightly lesser extent, but I'm sure that most people who have ever heard a tossup on Constantine have heard of Maxentius or Licinius, or possible Fausta. And as Alston said, Behemoth being in power for Master and Margarita in a nationals-level tournament (in a packet targeted to those who are pretty good at quiz bowl) is exceedingly generous.Cheynem wrote:The power mark in that is pretty generous--I would imagine unless you're just going off word association of author/book, even a hazy knowledge of the book's plot and themes (Russia/Satan/two title characters) should result in a power (I'm not complaining about this per se, I know very little about the book).

Even Behemoth might be okay, but then you have Satan/Woland and "set in 20th century Moscow" still in power.

Yeah, it seems like if you know a single character name from the book, you get power.Auks Ran Ova wrote:Even Behemoth might be okay, but then you have Satan/Woland and "set in 20th century Moscow" still in power.
So yeah, I guess the point's been made. Even though it was played on by good teams, IMO that's still too generous a power mark.

I know it's late, but can I see the Cincinnati Reds and Jezebel tossups?
