BASQT 2016: Available Starting February 2016

Post by Thaumatibis gigantea »

The Bergen County Academies Quizbowl Team is pleased to announce its first-ever housewritten packet for our tournament, the second Bergen Academies Spring Quizbowl Tournament (BASQT). This set will be head-edited by senior Zachary Stier and written by members of the Bergen team at regular-season high school difficulty.

We would be looking for potential mirror sites for tournament dates beginning February 1st, 2016. To request the set for mirroring at a rate of $10 per team in attendance, please contact [email protected] with your school name, location, planned date and estimated field. It is expected that mirror sites use standard tossup-bonus format. The PACE-NSC format to be used at the Hackensack site is not necessary.

In addition, we would be grateful for any test-readers with editing experience who could aid us in finalizing the set before then to ensure a great experience for all those involved.

The distribution will be as follows:

4/4 Literature
>1.5/1.5 US
>1.5/1.5 Non-US English-language
>1/1 World
4/4 History
>1/1 US
>1/1 Europe
>2/2 World and Non-Traditional [common link, etc.]
4/4 Science
>1/1 Biology
>1/1 Chemistry
>1/1 Physics
>1/1 Math/Computer Science/Other [no computation math]
3/3 Fine Arts
>1.5/1.5 Visual
>1.5/1.5 Audio
1/1 Religion
1/1 Mythology
1/1 Philosophy/Social Science
1/1 Geography/Current Events
1/1 Trash
(1/1 Tiebreaker, distributed among Literature/History/Science/Fine Arts)

There will be 14 packets, each containing 21 power-marked tossups and 21 bonuses (1 of each for tiebreaks).

Yes, "World" here means anything not originally written in English.

The last scheduled mirror of this event is our tournament on March 5. If other groups would like to run our set this spring, please contact me or Rebecca in the next week; otherwise, we will post the set shortly after our tournament.
