STORM at RM [HFT] - April 9th, 2016

Post by Noble Rot »

Richard Montgomery High School is excited to announce that we are hosting our annual spring tournament, STORM, on Saturday, April 9, 2016 on our main campus in Rockville, Maryland. The tournament will be mirroring the Harvard Fall Tournament X set (more information here).

The tournament will be conducted as a round-robin with matches consisting of the reading of an untimed set of 20 tossups and 20 sets of bonuses (each consisting of three parts). We ask that teams carry no more than six players on any single team; teams planning to bring more than six players should register a second team. Players also cannot switch between their school's teams; they must stay on the same team for the duration of the tournament.

Address
250 Richard Montgomery Drive, Rockville, MD 20852

Tournament Fees
The fee structure is as follows:
Base fee per team: $70
Buzzer discount: -$5
Moderator discount: -$10
Travel discount: -$10 per 100 miles, one-way (via Google Maps)
Minimum fee per team: $50

Registration
Registration will begin at 8:15 AM, with matches starting at about 9:00 AM. Ideally, the tournament will end around 5:00-6:00 PM.

Checks should be made out to “Richard Montgomery High School” with “It’s Academic” as the memo line. They may be mailed in advance to 250 Richard Montgomery Drive, Rockville, MD 20852, with Wendy Sparks in the attention line. Please remember to put the name, as we've had checks lost in the mail because they lacked a named recipient. Payment must be received before or on the day of the tournament.

Please send registrations to [email protected] - in the email, be sure to clearly indicate the number of teams, buzzers, and moderators you plan to bring. Please also include a phone number and email address where we can contact you on the day of the tournament. Remember that forum posts do not constitute a registration.

As of now, we have a soft cap of 24 teams, but we may be able to take more depending on the reader situation. Teams that register after that cap has been filled will be placed on a wait list.

Food
An assortment of breakfast foods will be provided. As the school is located in the midst of a small suburban hub, a list of eateries and a map of the local area will be provided for lunch.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to send them to us at [email protected]. We hope to see you on April 9!

Hi all--hope you enjoyed the set! As we still have one mirror planned, please do not discuss the set publicly. If you would like to discuss it, you can use the private forum set up, which you can access from your User Control Panel. You'll have to request permission to join before being allowed to view/post in it.
