Wanted to post the tentative dates for the tournaments we are hosting this year in Mississippi.

Itawamba has submitted the following dates for NAQT tournaments:
Sept. 24- Itawamba Invitational with 157-A questions perfect for new teams and inexperienced players as the new year has started

Jan. 21st- Mid-South Championship using IS-158 questions. We hope to market this tournament to teams throughout MS, TN, AL, or anyone willing to travel for a good tournament. We're also running a MS-20 set for novice/JV/middle school teams.

Mar. 25th- State Championship. We will again do a Varsity and a JV division. The question set is TBD.

NHBB has a pair of tournaments confirmed for Mississippi:

*Madison Central is hosting the Mississippi State Championships on January 21st. This tournament will use B-set.
and
*Richton is hosting a Southern Mississippi event (though, of course, everyone is invited) on March 4th. This tournament will use C-set.

If you have any questions or would like to know more, shoot me an e-mail. Thanks!

The next tournament in Mississippi is at Ole Miss. They are using NAQT IS-164 but it's a double-elimination tournament, so be aware that you could be limited in your number of games offered.

The state championship is March 25th at Itawamba. All schools in the state are encouraged to attend. A teams will be accepted first and then B teams accepted after a TBD date.

On March 25th, the State of Mississippi NAQT Championship will be held at Itawamba Agricultural High School. We have been assigned questions set IS-166 for varsity and MS-22 for JV. The competition is open to all schools in Mississippi. We are capping the tournament at 24 with 16 spots reserved solely for varsity and 8 for JV. (flexible as varsity teams will be given preference). It is a “first-come-first-serve” acceptance policy.

Official rules can be found at https://www.naqt.com/downloads/rules.pdf tournament can qualify the top 15% for NAQT nationals as well as small school nationals. Several schools have competed nationally within the past 5 years, and we want this to grow. It only helps in the nation’s view of the academics in Mississippi if we are consistently competing against the elite from around the country. We want quiz bowl to be a source of pride within all of our schools and within our state, and that is why we are glad to see a true state championship being held yet again.
With that said, I encourage all schools with a quiz bowl team to sign up as soon as possible:

Is there a rough schedule set out for Mississippi in 2017-2018? We plan to attend a tournament in Mississippi with our team in the fall, so it would be cool to know so we can plan accordingly.
