Hello everyone,

Sean Phillips and myself are pleased to announce that Washington University in St. Louis will be hosting a fall invitational tournament on November 12, 2016. We will be using the VTACO set, which is written by the Virginia Tech team. Centralia will be mirroring VTACO on November 19th; please remember that you cannot play this tournament if you are playing at Centralia.

Logistics information will be made available once the semester begins. This tournament is a platinum qualifier for the PACE NSC, so the top 25% of the field will qualify for the National Scholastics Championship on June 10-11 in Chicago, IL.

The fee structure is:
Base Fee: $70 per first team from a school, $60 per each subsequent team from a school.
Staffer Discount: $15 per staffer.
Working Buzzer Discount: $5 per buzzer (your system must allow for 8 people to play at any one time for us to use it for the discount).
Distance Discount: $5 per 100 miles (one-way, as determined by Google Maps).

This tournament’s field will be capped at 36 teams.

We are making a change to reserving teams in the field. We are allowing for direct entry for the first three teams from a school. Any subsequent teams (example: D or E teams) will be placed on a waitlist and allowed into the field 10 days before the tournament date, pending available space in the field (so you will know by November 2nd).

Registration
To register, simply email myself (Jacob O'Rourke) at [email protected] and tell me how many teams, buzzers and staffers your school will be bringing.

I look forward to seeing everybody on November 12th!

This tournament will be using the VTACO set written by the Virginia Tech team. Centralia will be using the same set on the 19th, so remember that you can't play this tournament if you're going to play at Centralia.

Congratulation to Washington A for winning the Washington University Fall Academic Tournament. Washington won the first game of an advantaged final over MICDS, 425-210. Ladue A finished in third and Miami Valley (OH) finished in 4th. Congratulations to Carbondale (IL), Eureka, Washington B and Orchard Farm for also qualifying for the PACE NSC. Thanks to all of the teams for attending and to all of the staffers for helping to run the tournament!
