Penn State Quizbowl is pleased to announce our second annual Penn State Spring Academic Bowl for April 1st, 2017. We will be mirroring the HFT set for this event. We hope to have a wide field of teams from across the state participate and prepare for Nationals at this tournament. To this end, we will be offering two divisions: a "Nationals Prep" division intended for experienced teams planning on attending HSNCT, SSNCT, or NSC, and a "Tournament" Division for either schools who want a more casual tournament experience, or for B/C/D teams of less experienced players. The field cap will be 24 teams, which might expand pending staff.

Logistics

Registration will begin at 8:00 am, the opening meeting at 8:45 am and the first round at 9:00 am. Details about where to park and directions to the tournament location on campus will be emailed to teams about a week prior to the tournament. The event will tentatively take place in the Willard Building on campus. Several excellent lunch locations are in walking distance, and directions/suggestions about where to eat will be provided to teams at the tournament.

Registration

To register, please e-mail me at [email protected]. Please include the number of teams, the number of buzzers, and the number of moderators you will have with you. Additonally, please specify if you would like to play in the Nationals Prep or Tournament division (or if you'd like some in each if you are registering multiple teams). I encourage all teams to bring buzzers and volunteer experienced moderators to receive discounts!

Teams may have a maximum of 6 players per registered team. You may register as many teams as you like, but if you are bringing seven players, you must have an "A" and a "B" team.

Fee Structure

$75 For first registered team
$65 For all subsequent teams
-$10 per buzzer
-$10 per moderator

The minimum fee is $40 per team. Cash or checks are acceptable. Please make checks payable to "Penn State Quiz Bowl."
