At the moment, the various NHBB websites are down for unplanned maintenance, and may be down for a few days or more. As we use online registration for our tournaments, you can imagine the annoyance this can cause!

Tournament registrations made before today are accounted for in our most recent downloaded database, so you don't need to do anything other than wait for the usual information email that goes out the week of the tournament.

Anyone needing information regarding a regional tournament - info on how to register, confirmation that you are registered if you did so within the last day, etc. - should contact the Tournament Coordinator. I have the complete list of who is coordinating each event, so if you don't know your TC, simply PM or email me with the name of your tournament and I'll get you in contact with them.

NHBB and its related programs (including all IHBB divisions, the US Geography Olympiad, International Geography Bee, US Academic Bee and Bowl, etc.) continue to have various technical issues with our websites. After over 50 hours of troubleshooting these with various webmasters, web technicians, and our hosting provider, the current consensus is that at present, none of the sites are able to be updated, though all continue to be functional for registrations and visible to viewers on the front end of each site, with the possible exception of ihbbcanada.com in Chrome. (For those technically inclined, the varnish caching is not functioning properly.)

NHBB has come to the conclusion that the likeliest solution to the problem is to move to another hosting provider, though this will likely take 1-2 weeks for all sites. Two separate web security services that are monitoring all our sites have confirmed that the current issue is not due to malware and/or the recent downtime issue, which has since been resolved. Indeed, this issue on a low-level basis and has been present for the past 4 weeks; it simply got much worse over the past week, to the point where it has made updating our websites impossible for the time being.


During this time, unless I announce otherwise, please continue to register online as usual. An auto-updated list of registered teams will not appear on the homepage for each regional event as usual; we will confirm the field with all teams with an additional email in advance of each tournament. If a certain NHBB / IHBB / USGO / IGB website does not work for you, please email [email protected] and try a different browser, as sometimes that will solve the issue.

We apologize for any inconvenience here and are continuing to try and seek a comprehensive solution to this issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!
