The Johns Hopkins University Quizbowl Team is pleased to announce the Johns Hopkins University Fall Tournament!
When and Where

Format
This tournament will follow official NAQT rules (which can be viewed at http://www.naqt.com/rules.html) with slight modifications on timing.
Question Set
We will be using NAQT Invitational Series #168. Per the NAQT qualification rules, the top 15% of the field will qualify for the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament (HSNCT). This tournament is also PACE certified, meaning that the top 10% of the field will qualify for the PACE National Scholastic Championship (NSC).
Eligibility
Novice division: intended for teams that anticipate <21 points per bonus question answered.
Varsity division: no eligibility rules applicable.
For any questions concerning eligibility, email [email protected]
Team Entry Fees
$60 per team (minimum of $35 after discounts applied), either cash or check only. Please bring payment on the day of the tournament. Checks should made payable to "Johns Hopkins University."
Discounts
-$20 for staffers, -$5 per working buzzer set.
Food
Pizza will be sold near lunch time, and various restaurants may be found in the vicinity of Johns Hopkins. To see a full list, please visit http://web.jhu.edu/cogsci/visitors/restaurants.html.
Parking
Parking is available at the South Garage, at the flat rate of $8 for the entire day.
Team & Roster Size
There is a maximum of 6 players and a minimum of 1 player on each team - no exceptions without explicit permission from the tournament director. Up to four members may play at once. We recommend no more than four members on a team, so that students may play the maximum number of rounds.
Team Limit
Until two weeks prior to the registration deadline (October 21, 2017), only two teams from a school may register for each division (for a total of 4 teams); subsequent teams (up to an additional two, for six total) from the same school will be placed on the waitlist. Following October 21, 2017, any fifth and sixth teams from that school on the waitlist will be moved off of the waitlist and registered (assuming that there are spots still open).
Team Cap
The field is tentatively capped at 12 teams per division (24 total).
Registration Deadline
Please email [email protected] by November 4th and indicate the number of teams, number of buzzers, number of potential staffers. Please include "Johns Hopkins Quizbowl Tournament Registration" in the subject line. Note that simply expressing interest will not be considered registration. By November 4, please also provide us with a tentative roster - it can be changed it later, but having a roster just makes our stats person's job much easier.
