Big Lake Brawl II (Hawley, PA) (02/03/18)
Posted: Mon Oct 30, 2017 12:25 pm
The Big Lake Brawl II Tournament will take place at Wallenpaupack High School in Hawley, PA on Saturday February 3rd, 2018. We are located in NE PA, 15 minutes off I-84. We hope snow will stay away this year and not cause a reschedule like last year!
EDIT: We have just been gold certified by PACE!
Set: IS-173 A. While we are looking to attract new teams from NEPA, all teams are welcome! We have a soft cap of 18, although that may be expanded to a hard cap of 24 if staffing and buzzer availability permits.
Standard rules will be in effect (powers, negs, etc., with sudden death overtime) with ACF timing (five seconds for everything). Formatting will be standard: round robin in the morning, with rebracketing and a round robin in the afternoon. A final/advantaged final will be played as necessary, with trophies for top teams and prizes for top scorers.
Base Fee: $75 for the first team, $65 for each additional team.
Discounts:
-$10 per working buzzer brought for use in the tournament
-$10 per staffer provided by the school.
-$10 for distance (>150 miles) (1 per school)
-$20 per school for new schools – schools that have not played quiz bowl for at least 2 years. For local schools, WVIA and IU tournaments do not count against you for this discount. (1 per school)
The minimum fee per team is $40.
We will offer pizza for lunch on site. Prices and details TBD.
To sign up (or for further information) please email me at [email protected] with how many teams you would like to register, number of buzzers, and staff. Then visit our site HERE. Download the registration/invoice form and bring it with you along with your payment on the day of the tournament. As we hope to draw several new schools, we gladly welcome anyone with moderator experience living close to us to come to volunteer as well!
We look forward to hosting our second tournament and hope to see some new teams attend!
