Beaver Fever [02/10/2018 @ Caltech]

Caltech QB is happy to announce Beaver Fever, to be held at Caltech on Saturday, February 10th, 2018. This tournament is designed as an introduction for new to new-ish HS teams and will use the IS-173A set. ]

Since this is a tournament intended for novices, all players should ideally have less than 2 years of HS quiz bowl experience, should have never scored 60 PPG or higher at a JV or Varsity tournament, and should have never attended any HS quiz bowl nationals.

Schools can register up to 3 teams - any teams beyond this will be added to a waitlist, which will be cleared a week before the tournament if spots are still available. The field is capped at 16 teams. Please register at https://www.naqt.com/registration/fees. ... nt_id=8977.

Fees:
Base fee: $80
Multiple team discount: -$10 for all teams after the first.
Buzzer discount: -$5/functional system
Staffer discount: -$10/staffer
Travel: -$10 per school/organization per 100 miles traveled one way
"New to Quizbowl" discount (school played 0 tournaments in the 2016-2017 year): $-40

Congratulations to Del Norte HS, who beat Whitney C 360-280 in an advantaged final to take 1st place. Stats will be posted tomorrow morning and will be found at http://www.hsquizbowl.org/db/tournaments/4807/.

Major props to Caltech for hosting a high school tournament for the first time in awhile and getting so many new schools from the LA area to come. Hope that these schools had a good time and got linked into the larger SoCal network.
