Attention Quiz Bowl Coaches -
The Michigan State University Academic Competition Club is pleased to announce the MSU March Madness Quiz Bowl Tournament which will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2006. All teams from Michigan are eligible. This tournament will NAQT set IS-58 as provided by NAQT and NAQT rules, with two exceptions: It will be untimed with 12 question halves and there will be no negatives. Registration fee is $60, checks made payable to the Michigan State University Academic Competition Club. There will be a $5 discount for each working buzzer system brought, up to a limit of two. Also, if this is your first tournament of the year or your first year of competition, there is a $5 discount. There will be a maximum field of 32 teams. The deadline for registering is March 18, 2006. Trophies will be awarded to the first and second place teams as well as to the semifinalists. The top three individual scorers will also be given prizes. This tournament is also an excellent last-chance qualifier for the State Championship tournament and the top 15% of the field will also qualify for the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament. The champion will also qualify for the ASCN Tournament of Champions and the National Academic Championship.

2006 MSU March Madness Invitational Tournament - Saturday March 25, 2006
Format: NAQT Unofficial Event - Untimed

Questions: NAQT IS-58

Eligibility: Michigan high school teams.

Team Cap: 32

Entrance Fee: $60

Discounts: $5 for a working buzzer set, maximum of 2. $5 discount for new
programs (first year of competition or all-freshman team) or if it is the
school's first tournament of the year. Minimum entrance fee, $45
Tournament format: Bracket round-robin leading to single-elimination
playoff. Minimum of five games regardless of number of teams entered.

Trophies: Top 4 will receive a trophy. Top 3 individual scorers will each
receive a prize.

Directions will be available once we are assigned to a building.

Troy A defeated Grosse Pointe North 395-240 in the finals to win the 2006 MSU March Madness Invitational. East Lansing A defeated Detroit Country Day A 405-170 in the consolation game to take third place. The individual scoring champion was Kurtis Droge of East Lansing A, who scored 126.11 PPG. Kareem Seifeldin of Troy A was second at 112.78 PPG and Sam Callen of Kent City was third at 85.71 PPG. Complete results are available at http://www.msu.edu/~stoetze4/March2006_standings.html
