2008 PACE NSC Post Tourney Discussion - Whitman wins in OT!

Post by Dan Greenstein »

Walt Whitman defeated Thomas Jefferson A in the championship final to win the 2008 PACE NSC. The two teams were tied at 360 after regulation. Whitman dominated the overtime period of three tossups and bonuses to win 440-390. The semifinalists were Dorman A and Wilmington Charter A.

Dorman B and Detroit Catholic Central played in the consolation final. I was the scorekeeper of that match, yet I cannot definitively remember who won the game nine hours later. I know, major brain fart here. Walter Johnson finished third in the consolations.

Will work on getting these tweaked, titled, and mirrored on Facebook over the next day or so, but if you're interested, here are the few pictures I've taken.

I'm sure Tom will have his shots up fairly soon.

To expand more, but in a separate post as I'm punchy and tired...

Getting to see players like Dees, Simons, Shantanu, Daichi, Guy, the entire TJ team, the rest of Whitman... it was amazing. I can't say enough good things about the event. The staff was great, the campus was great (if laid out very oddly in places)... good times all around

Plus meeting people outside of THE INTERNET was nice h:smile:

Damn, I really wish I could've been there now. Your liveblog was riveting, Fred. Even reading it when I got home from work at 9pm it was suspenseful and exciting.

Thanks for the coverage, Fred. I wish I could have been there rather than stuck at home. I thought I heard there was a podcast...

Thanks man. I still feel like it could be improved upon, but practice and all that.

One thing that I'm not sure was mentioned anywhere else was that after the game, Whitman and TJ got a several minute long standing ovation from the crowd of about 50 who were watching. It was just a really classy moment.

*lol* Thanks!

I think I need to adjust the exposure/contrast balance on that particular picture, but once I do, look out for it at http://shotthefood.wordpress.com . :)

Okay, the truth is out. I was really hoping for divine intervention for the table of stuffed animals to come out on top in the final.

I don't think there are remote-controlled Tickle Me Elmos or similarly stuffed toys... is there?
