ASCA's reasoning has largely been that no one was willing to go to the trouble of trying to organize an all-star team with practices that would be a good match for this. If you were willing to do so, I would certainly endorse the idea and push it.

Josh that sounds like a good plan for all of us to get together in May

If Alabama were to organize a team, whoever is in charge would have to inform HSAPQ rather quickly, since the soft deadline of 3/18 has long past.

Here is the current status of my three seniors' plans for matriculation:

Riley - UAH
Tiffany - Snead
Travis - The Citadel

Tiffany is the only one planning to continue her quiz bowl career in college.

Lowell is trying to figure out his financial aid package, but is leaning to Union or Gettysburg.

Patrick is waiting to hear back from UVa on a scholarship he's been waitlisted for, but is likely going to Harvard.

Justin is going to Alabama in their honors program, and ought to play for UA quiz bowl.

Michael Hizny is going to Auburn honors.

Lauren is going to Auburn honors.

Madeline is going to UA honors, but will probably not play quiz bowl.

Whoa, Josh.... I knew you were losing a lot of players, but wow. I thought at least Hizny and Lauren were juniors.

Now you know what I went through a couple of years ago. My team was decimated with the Class of 2008. But, we've recovered pretty well. You will do the same.

Yeah. I have one junior this year. Two, actually, if you want to get specific, but one of them is a complete waste of human life, so he's gone for next year. My JV has been making some good progress, however, and while we won't be national competitors, we should at least be able to give everyone a good fight.

That's where he wants to go. His dad was a military guy, and he just wants to go there. As odd a choice as it seems, I'm impressed with his resolve and dedication. He has worked his rear off, and it looks like he's getting a really good scholarship package from them.

Why not The Citadel?

I cant argue with that. I was just wondering. Not often you hear of someone from the Sand Mountain area going to The Citadel.

Yeah, I'll definitely try to continue playing in college. It all just depends on how my Freshman schedule turns out and how much free time I'll have.
