Quick question: when does this tournament expect to finish up by on Saturday afternoon/evening? I'm there til the end in any case; just interested regarding my plans for Sunday.

We're planning on using NAQT rules with the exception of doing 10-minute halves as we are using collegiate questions. Input is, of course, welcome.

Hey, I didn't know if you got my email about whether you still needed mods for this event, but if you do, let me know by email or pm and I might be able to get myself and one or two other people from Michigan to come down and read.

Alrighty- I've updated the seedings based on the newest Morlan Ratings and have arrived at the following groupings.I switched the 4-5-6-8 seeds between the groups to keep teams from the same school facing each other in the morning (and in order to keep the 32-34 "pinchpoint" together)". Should make for a great day!

Maroon Group
8. Dorman A (SC)
12. Auburn A (IL)
20. Dunbar A (KY)
32. Lisle (IL)
34. Detroit Catholic Central B (MI)
87. Seven Lakes B (TX)
UR Harrison (IN)
UR Culver B (IN)

Gold Group
6. Seven Lakes A (TX)
13. Detroit Catholic Central A (MI)
19. Loyola (IL)
28. duPont Manual (KY)
56. Culver A (IN)
77. Auburn B (IL)
92. Detroit Country Day (MI)

We are about to begin a one-game final featuring Seven Lakes A versus Dorman. Each has one loss: Dorman to Dunbar (in the prelims), and Seven Lakes A to Dorman in the last round of the playoffs.

What was the playoff split? If it was 4/4, shouldn't Manual play Culver, with the loser playing Loyola? Seems like duPont was automatically in the top bracket, based on how the games were played.

EDIT: I didn't see that PPB was used as the tiebreaker, instead of PPG.

Congrats to Coach Huff's gang -- I believe they are now 5-1 against Seven Lakes across the past three weekends.

In retrospect, now that a team from South Carolina has defeated a team from Texas in the final, is it possible that this tournament was misnamed?

Possibly, but several of us in the Mindwest make it a point to invite "outsiders" to our tournaments.

BTW, when might we see stats for this tournament?

Stats should be posted within 24 hours- I am missing the SlamIn file from the final. Victor Kluck will email it to me tomorrow, I'm sure. Thanks SO much to all the teams who came! It was a fantastic tournament with many teams who should make deep playoff runs at Nationals! Good luck to everybody over the next three weeks!

As to the name of the tournament, I guess I see it more as a Midwest Open. The idea is to have a tournament with broad geographic appeal drawing the best teams from several states. We're excited we've been able to realize that goal, and we plan to continue welcoming teams from beyond the traditional Midwestern states.

I'm just trying to imagine Dorman submitting some sort of year-end report to the school administration that says, "Our team has also performed creditably in regional competitions, earning the title of 2011 Midwest Champions."

On behalf of my team, I'd like to thank Mr. Blessman for running an excellent tournament - we had a great time. I'd like to congratulate both Seven Lakes and Dorman for their excellent performance; having played them both, I can attest to their vast knowledge and buzzer skills. Thanks again for a great tournament.
