Early Autumn Collegiate Novice at Harding 9/25

Post by crobbins52 »

Harding University will be hosting a mirror of the ACF-sponsored Collegiate Novice Tournament on September 25th, 2010 in Searcy, Arkansas. The building on campus where this will take place and the specific tournament format will be announced closer to the date of the tournament when I have teams register. The tournament will start at 10:00 am. I can say that teams will get no fewer than seven games and there will be some sort of finals to determine the winner of the tournament.

The base fee per team will be $15/player ($60/team of 4)
The following discounts will be offered:
- For bringing a working buzzer set - $5/player knocked off your base fee
- For traveling over 100 miles as determined by Google maps - $5/player knocked off your base fee.
- The minimum fee is $5/player.

Eligibility rules:
1. All ACF eligibility rules apply, except when they contradict the rules below.
2. This is a tournament for introducing collegiate novices to quizbowl. Consequently, no high school teams or players are eligible.
3. Anyone (who does not break Rules 1 or 2) who has never played quizbowl before is automatically eligible. Other academic competition does not count as quizbowl for this rule.
4. Players meeting one or more of the following criteria must apply to the head editor for special permission to play:
i. If you have already completed your second year of college (calculated from time in college, not credits).
ii. If you were ever on a playoff team at NAQT HSNCT or PACE NSC.
iii. If you have ever scored at least 30 points per game at any college tournament.
iv. If you have ever won any college tournament.
5. Anyone who does not fall into any of the four categories listed in Rule 4 is automatically eligible to play.

I encourage any person who is not eligible to play to send an email to Andrew Hart, the head editor, for an eligibility exemption, or to staff the tournament, which would also be greatly appreciated.

If you would like to register, send an email to [email protected] with the number of buzzer sets and teams you'll be bringing.
Direct any questions you might have to that email address, as well.
