Masters Lit Singles: Folly and Glory @ Chicago Open

Post by Romero »

This is an announcement for a tournament we call Masters Lit Singles: Folly and Glory

On Sunday, July 11th, the day after Chicago Open, all players are invited to take part in a Lit Singles tournament. Their is no question writing requirement for the event; entry is $15 per person. The minimum number necessary for the tournament to take place is 8. The maximum number we can handle is 32. Exact format will be partially dependent on the number participating so we ask that you register as soon as possible by sending an email to [email protected]. Assuming a 32 person field, the format will consist of three (Hilleman-style) seeding rounds followed by a single elimination playoff. If anyone is not interested in participating but will be around (perhaps because of teammates) we could use some additional staff members to help things run more efficiently.

The first seeding round will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m. in whatever building the University of Chicago via Subash is gracious enough to allow us to use. We expect the tournament to be complete by 3:00 p.m.

Thanks,

Chris Romero

Imprecations, Blastations, Invocations, Damnations and Excited Utterances against the late posting of this event.

Anyone who knows me knows that this tourney would be the mother of all wet dreams (to paraphrase ADJ).

Unfortunately, I will be leaving Chicago Saturday evening after the Open...(if anyone has any interest in playing a NE mirror....)

Folly and Glory Results

Post by Romero »

Congratulations to Matt Weiner who won the tournament and to Seth Teitler who lost his first match and made it all the way through the losers bracket to reach the final. Thank you to the 16 participants who woke up early on a Sunday morning to play. Thanks to Subash who made the tournament possible. Thanks to R. Hentzel and all others who graciously volunteered to help us read and setup. And finally thank you to the crew of writers/editors who worked on the 400+ questions: Susan Mitchell, Eric Kwartler, Matthew Nance, Trey Morris, and Candace Benefiel.

Copies of the Double Elimination Bracket and the questions can be found at: http://texasquizbowl.org/d/MLSFG/

British Drama: 15
British Authors: 25
British Other: 20

France: 20
Russia: 15
Germany: 12

Do you by any chance have handy a chronological distribution of the questions? If not, I'll try to go through them and post it here; it would be interesting to see.
