Heinrich Böll 2004 - September 25

Post by ASimPerson »

We're almost back to school and thus it's time to announce this year's version of Heinrich Boll, Georgia Tech's earlybird house-written tournament.

The tournament will be on September 25th, and will start at 9:00am in the main auditorium of Tech's Instructional Center. As you might've inferred, the tournament is really early this year and as such will be house written. The difficultly level is being aimed for Division II teams, though any eligible team is certainly welcome to attend.

Base fee: $90
Working buzzer discount: $5
Additional team discount: $10
Travel discounts (as inferred by MapQuest, discount is *per team*):
200-400 miles: $10
400+ miles: $20

Format: As mentioned above, this will be geared towards DII teams. We'll play by ACF rules, so we'll 20 tossup, untimed rounds. We aim to do a full round-robin, but if we get too many teams we'll split into divisions and then do an appropiate playoff format. If there are enough veteran teams, then we'll have seperate DII and DI round-robins, otherwise they'll be combined.

Eligibility: Heinrich Boll follows basic ACF eligibility rules. Therefore, all teams regardless of graduate participate are allowed as long as they are all students at the same institution. Awards will be given out depending on what the final format is, but I will guess that there will be awards for first, second, and best DII teams.

Schedule: Tournament headquarters will be the Tannebaum Auditorium in the Instructional Center. Reigistration will begin at 9:00 AM EDT, and play will begin at 10:00. What time it ends depends on how many teams attend, but we're *usually* done by 7:00.
