To elaborate on the post I left in Andrew's thread:
I have heard that HI and Illinois Open are not expected to be held either at all or in a way that conflicts with the idea for a late-season hard tournament, but if that information is not correct, please tell me. The aim of this announcement is NOT to pre-empt those tournaments. Along the same lines, Shantanu said he would be the lead editor this tournament and several of the rest of us will be on the team, but we would welcome outside collaboration from Illinois, Harvard, or anyone else.
We haven't yet decided whether we want to do this as packet submission or house-written. And since the aim is explicitly to prepare for nationals, the distribution will adhere to ACF more closely than did Sack of Antwerp, for anyone who might be concerned about that.
