(CUT-style) Brandeis' Mark "The Junior Bird" Fidry

Post by Rothlover »

Hey everyone, Dan Passner from Brandeis quiz bowl in Waltham, MA. This year, we will be hosting our second annual Junior Bird on our campus on Saturday September 25th. We will be using NAQT questions from IS-44. This year, we are going to be trying to run an untimed cut-style
format, most of you should know the particulars of this, if you
don't just go to the NAQT webstie, or send me an e-mail.

If the date is an issue, let me know, as we may be alternately able
to run the tournament October 2nd.

I would like to see if there is any interest in a TRASH junior bird
on the same weekend as the junior bird (or possibly even the same
day, just let me know.) The fees for the TRASH tournament will be
exceeingly reasonable.

As of now, here are the financial specs for the event:
Base fee: $100
2 person team base: $80
1 person team base: $60
Buzzer discount: -5 (this only applies to working buzzers)
Staff discount: -10
Travel discounts: e-mail me and we will talk
First-time teams: We can work out a discount

If finances are an issue, please talk to me, I have given teams
significant accomodations in the past and will not hesitate to do it
again. Just let me know.

If you need help finding a hotel, let me know about that as well, as
I can hook you up.

Any other questions, please contact me. If you want to come, contact
me, hopefully with how many teams you are likely to send, as well as
buzzers and staff. My e-mail is danpass @ brandeis . edu (remove
spaces) our VP this year is Amy Padva and her e-mail is awpadva @
brandeis . edu (again remove spaces).

We look forward to seeing you at our tournament, or tournaments :)

Hey everyone, this is Dan from Brandeis qb. I just wanted to give
everyone a brief update as to how the field is looking for our
tournaments. Remember that there is plenty of time to contact me if
you still want in. Also, teams that expressed interest, please
update me on how many teams it looks like you will be sending.

This is for our junior bird on October 2nd:

Harvard: 5-7 teams
Penn: 2-3 teams
BU: 2-3 teams
Williams: 2-3 teams
Rutgers: 2-3 teams

We also have interest expressed by Yeshiva and MIT, as well as
Northeastern (hopefully), and a couple of house teams should also be
in the mix.

TRASH:
Tufts
McGill
Mike Hoey-Lukakis led team
Brandeis A
Williams

Of course, there are many other teams that have not yet contacted
me, so please do so. Remember that if money is an issue for either
event we can work something out. I hope to see you all at the
tournies.
