CO Matchmaking

Post by Cheynem »

So, with Ryan's fiat to go ahead and begin forming teams (and most of the Kool Kids have already done that), I'm going to start a thread for everyone else to line up interest.

Hey, I'll start.

I actually don't even know if I can make CO (I can if it's in July as I assume it will be, but maybe not if it somehow it ends up in August). I am good at literature that has been made into films, American history, Bible, and randomness. My teams have logged one impressive upset every year but have generally been sub .500.

I'll almost certainly be coming. I'm good at hair products, unseasonal clothing, and filling in the blanks on multiply-eponymous things.

If Jose Valentin still plays baseball in his native Puerto Rico, I can still play quizbowl in my native Chicago. I'll be there.

I guess I'll add my hypothetical future self to the talent pool. I know classics and little more than a patchwork of anything else. Good for random buzzes on obscurata and an endless stream of color commentary.

After last year's performance, you are seriously selling yourself short.

If you're looking for someone who won't be able to commit to being at this tournament until literally the day before, you should hit me up. I'd be a strong fourth on a good team, a good third on a solid team, a marginal two on a middling team and a below average one on a marginal team... or I might not be able to come at all! Whee!

I've tentatively joined Marnold, assuming he can make it and isn't scooped up by an actual good team. I would like to point out to anybody looking for a team that Marnold and I have three national titles between us, giving our team a championship pedigree few can match.

M. Arnold, D. Seal, and myself are in negotiations to bring back 3/4 of a national championship team for this year's CO, pending schedules working out.

There's a good chance I'll play this. I know things that aren't history or science.

I'd like to play, and I know philosophy, social science, and current events pretty well.

edit: A recent change of events makes it so that I can go to the tournament on the 21st.

I rather desire to play this and should actually be able to make it this year. I can pull some history, visual arts, and the odd religion tossup, as well as books I have read recently enough.

Trevor Davis and I are seeking teammates! Recent patterns suggest that our fated teammates are a scientist and someone from Yale, but of course we'd like to hear from anyone.

What if you play with Ashvin and only have a team of three?

I am not at all sure I can make this tournament, but I would love to if it works out. I'm mainly a Lit player, with odd buzzes on history, religion, and current events.

Austin Listerud and I are looking for teammates. I have some science knowledge, Austin can get a few things across the board but is best at myth. We certainly won't be expecting to contend though. Contact me at [email protected] if interested.

Just a note to any prospective teammates looking to pick me up off the waiver wire: I have committed to play with WUSTL quizbowler and former UCLA chum Tirth Patel, who knows some biochem and presumably whatever one learns in med school. The duo of us are open to teammates of most any stripe, I guess.

I will most likely play CO so I'm looking for teammates. I'd like to play on a middle-of-the-pack team with teammates who know stuff I can't possibly answer questions on. Those things include non-physics/astronomy science, philosophy, social science, religion, US history, ancient history, and music. I'm all right at myth, European history, visual arts, and poetry.

EDIT: I'm definitely coming to CO, and I'm looking for teammates.

I can do Lit, with some history, Current Events, & miscellaneous buzzes. Let me know if you're interested in joining forces?

My team (me, Jasper Lee, Ashvin Srivatsa) needs a new history player as ours had to drop out. Let me know if you're interested
