Collegiate Novice at Cornell (9/15/12)

Post by Ecce Lumo »

On September 15th, the Cornell Quiz Bowl Club will be hosting a mirror of this year's incarnation of the Early Autumn Collegiate Novice tournament. More information about the set, such as distribution, difficulty, and eligibility, can be found here. I will be the tournament director for this event.

We will be holding the tournament in Rockefeller Hall on our Ithaca, NY campus. Registration will take place from 10 to 10:30 in Rockefeller 102, and the first round will start shortly after that. We plan to finish by 5. While the exact tournament format will depend on field size, all teams can expect to play at least 8 matches.

Fees
+$15 per player
-$5 per working buzzer system
-$5 per competent staffer
-$10 per 200 miles traveled
Minimum fee: $5 per player

Registration
To register, please email me at il86 a-with-a-circle-around-it cornell period edu and let me know how many teams, buzzers, and staffers you plan to bring. Posts in this thread will not count as official registrations. Please include as well a phone number at which we can contact you the day of the tournament; if your team is experiencing a delay in getting to the tournament or gets lost coming back from lunch, we want to be sure we know about it so we don't have to start playing without you.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and we hope to see you there!

Congratulations to Cornell A, who beat Cornell C in the final to win this tournament! We played a round robin followed by a Page playoff. Thanks to all of the teams who came and to Zach from Buffalo, Nimit from RPI, and Kara from Rochester for staffing.

Stats are available here.
