Terrapin Invitational Tournament at WUSTL (3/23/13)

Post by Charbroil »

Washington University in St. Louis will be holding a mirror of Maryland's Terrapin set on March 23, 2013. This is a regular difficulty set. The official tournament announcement can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13786. Richard's asked me to direct.
The original announcement wrote:
Our packet submission requirements are the same as that of ACF: "Any team with at least one person on it who played a regular, collegiate, academic quizbowl tournament (either as a college student or as a high school student) prior to September 1, 2011 is required to submit a packet in order to participate".

PRICING:

+$100 - Base Fee
-$50 - Packet submitted by Saturday, February 2.
-$25 - Packet submitted by Saturday, February 9.
+$0 - Packet submitted by Saturday, February 16 (actually the 23rd, per below).
+$25 - Packet submitted by Saturday, February 23 (actually March 2nd, per below).
+$50 - Packet submitted by Saturday, March 2 (actually March 9th, per below).
+$100 - Packet submitted after that, with an additional $10/day

+$10 - For egregiously bad formatting; teams should stick as closely to the ACF formatting as possible: http://acf-quizbowl.com/documents/2012- ... formatting
-$5 - Working buzzer discount, unlimited
-$10 - Competent moderator discount

Minimum fee per team: $40.

PACKET GUIDELINES:

Standard ACF distribution and question length, see: http://acf-quizbowl.com/documents/2012- ... stribution and http://acf-quizbowl.com/documents/2012- ... es/#length

Sorry for the delay in posting this. The dates were difficult to work around with various parties who were available one day or the other, as well as which teams had spring break and all that. Depending on interest, this site still might not run. We’ll see how it ends up.

It should be noted that Ladue, a high school team under the iron heel of MSHSAA, has no desire to attend this tournament. The Tamil Tiger Mothers are interested though.

I think we're not going to be able to make it to this. I just don't think there's any way we can afford to make it to both this and ICT.

I've updated the attending list to remove WKU; Tamil Tiger Mothers, if you're going to be attending this tournament, you need to let me and Richard know.

Like the MSU field, this field will materialize iff we are able to accommodate a mixed high school team. As such, this tournament will be set once Charles and I get a confirmation from UMD.

edit: okay, my bad

That isn't actually an entirely accurate description of the situation at the MSU mirror, for what that's worth (probably very little).

Results:

1/ Tamil Tiger Mothers
2/ WUSTL
3/ Sparkle Motion
4/ The Pancyclopaedic Pandas

Richard (WUSTL) was the top scorer, followed by Max and Ben from Tamil Tiger Mothers, respectively. I'm told that the statistics software isn't calculating the numbers correctly, so Richard or someone else from our team will be putting everything into SQBS and posting stats in the near future.
