This is the announcement for the UCSD site of George Oppen, an easier than Nationals difficulty (or Nats minus) tournament (more details about the set may be found here)

This is the payment scheme for the tournament:

Base Fee - $120 for open teams, $70 for college teams
Working Buzzers - -$10/set
Moderators - -$30/person (must be pre-checked with me)
Travel Discount - -$20/200 miles

The tournament will likely be held in our usual location (Humanities and Social Sciences Building), but since we can't put in room reservations for a few months, I can't tell you with absolute certainty. Stay tuned for both that and information about parking/dining options.

Email ucsdqb @ gmail to register with your school (or your confirmed finalized team), number of teams, and number of buzzers. There's been significant levels of interest shown already.

So were any of the people in the other thread pulling for a Norcal site coming to this one? Jeff? Ted? Berkeley? Cal Tech?

Berkeley almost certainly won't be attending since we are hosting a large HS tournament that day.

I am hoping to play this. I will try to bring people from Claremont, but if that falls through, I can play solo or on a team that needs another person.

Any updates on where the tournament is taking place, where we should park, when we should get there?

It's starting at 9:00 AM 8:30 AM (so I guess get there up to half an hour early) at the Humanities and Social Sciences Building, which Google Maps is apparently calling the Patrick J. Ledden Auditorium. You can park at lots P207 and P208, which are right across the street, and accessible from Muir College Drive. Better map

So I guess Eddie beat me to it, but he's mostly right with the exception that we're thinking of starting the tournament at 8:30 AM. We'll be sending out a final email later today, with scheduling and any last minute important information.

Here's one more map that may or may not be any more helpful.

As a general point, decisions like this really need to be made earlier so teams can make travel plans ahead of time.
