MLK XVII - University of Michigan - 01/16/16
Posted: Sat Jun 20, 2015 10:59 pm
The University of Michigan will be running MLK XVII on January 16, 2016, the weekend before the eponymous holiday.
This set will be completely written and edited by the University of Michigan team and playable by anyone enrolled in school. We will produce 15 packets of difficulty that uses Penn Bowl 2014 as a start point but ends up more accessible, on a slightly skewed "bell-curve" scheme of difficulty, in which every packet will have several tossups with easier-than-average answerlines, and maybe one or two tossups with answerlines of harder-than-average difficulty. We will work hard to provide all of our bonuses with true easy parts answerable by the majority of teams playing. We are proactively seeking mirrors for this tournament, which you can run for $30/team (contact Roxanne Ilagan at railagan AT umich.edu if interested). Hosts are free to set their own payment schedules so long as they meet the mirror fee requirement.
The distribution for the tournament will be as follows:
4/4 Literature - 1/1 each American, British, and European (including classical), 1/1 Non-Western, transnational, and more of the previous three
4/4 History - 1/1 each American and World, 1/0 or 0/1 British, 1/2 or 2/1 other European (including Classical)
4/4 Science - 1/1 each Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, 1/1 Other Science (Math, Earth Science, Astronomy, Computer Science)
