Ken Jennings vs. the Quiz Bowl Machine [Questions Needed!]

Post by ezubaric »

We're running an event Oct. 2 at the University of Washington (spectators welcome):
https://www.cs.washington.edu/research/nlp/qanta

However, our source of questions fell through, so for this event to happen, we need the community's help in finding questions. We have a budget of $150 and we need 50 tossups.

If you A) know of a source of questions that we can use on October 2 (and then can then post the video of shortly thereafter) or B) have a track record of delivering quality questions on short notice, please contact me at [email protected]

Difficulty and distribution would ideally be HSNCT-like, but we have some flexibility there. I can provide more details on format and distribution to interested parties.

Thanks!

Wouldn't it make more sense to pit the machine against Andrew Yaphe? That would be more interesting.

Perhaps, but no one outside of quizbowl knows who he is, whereas everyone (or at least a much larger percentage of the population) knows about Ken Jennings.

Yeah, that was our thinking as well. And we're trying to work our way up to QB powerhouses.

To those in Seattle: half the spaces are gone. RSVP now!
