Penn Bowl at UNC (10/24)

Post by ryanrosenberg »

Hello!

I am pleased to announce the Southern Mid-Atlantic site of Penn Bowl 2015, to be held at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Saturday, October 24th, 2015. Given the short notice for this mirror site, we will have a reduced entry fee and teams may delay payment until after the tournament if necessary. Penn Bowl is a regular difficulty tournament.

The tournament will be held in Dey Hall. Registration will begin in Dey 206 at 8:30 am, and the tournament will start at 9:00 am.

Registration
Please email [email protected] with team name, number, and buzzer/staffer information.

Fees
Base fee: $100 per team
Working buzzer discount: $5 each
Approved moderator discount: $15 each
Travel discount: $10 (more than 200 miles one way according to Google maps)
Minimum fee: $40/team

Payment (borrowed from Cody Voight)

All teams must pay by the day of the tournament. If this is not feasible for your team, email [email protected] and we can work something out. We prefer to accept payment in person right before the tournament starts, but we will accept checks by mail ahead of time if your procedures require it.

We can accept cash, personal checks, or checks from school, school district, or quizbowl club funds. We have no ability to process purchase orders, credit cards, Paypal, or any other forms of payment.

All checks must be made out to "Carolina Academic Team" (must be exact wording). If you require a pre-tournament invoice in order to have a check cut, let us know early enough for your school to process the payment. We can generally send you an invoice the same day.

Due to some late drops, we only had four teams. We played a triple round-robin, from which Duke emerged victorious at 8-1. William and Mary was second at 7-2. Stats are posted here.
