CLEAR II (and AVOGADRO'S NUMBER) @ Skype (6/18)

Post by sbraunfeld »

The Rutgers University Academic Team would like to announce CLEAR II, an open subject tournament, to be held online on 6/18. Like last year's tournament, this tournament consists of subject packets; however, this year we are aiming for a tournament structurally more like This Tournament Goes to 11 of years past. That is, a full team tournament played on subject packets (but without the split rounds or any trash). Packets will be 20/20. For those who played last year's event, this tournament is intended to more closely resemble the American Folk & Roots Music packet than the Spanish Literature packet.

Afterwards, we will be running a mirror of AVOGADRO'S NUMBER. Details for this have yet to be worked out.

Here is a spreadsheet to facilitate team formation for these tournaments. Please email us at [email protected] to officially register for the tournament.

Fees:
Base Price: $60.00/team

Field:
1. Tejas, Jordan, Naveed, Manners
2. Hang et al.
3. Alston/Golfinos/Lockwood
4. Bentley et al.

Interested in playing this.

edit: To elaborate I'm happy to form a team with any interested parties/join an existing team. I can probably contribute to the lit packets and Chinese history, and likely sit around uselessly for the other ones.

Any update on what the field looks like? I tentatively have a mix of NYU/NYU alums to play this with assuming this is still happening.

This is still happening. You and Maryland are the only full teams signed up so far, but there are also some free agents who've expressed interest. You have to send us an email to officially register, though.

This is no longer being held at Rutgers on 4/23. It will be held as an online tournament sometime later, quite likely in June.

Are the "Doubtful" packets going to be in the final set?

The biology packet will not be in the set. I tried to contact the person who offered the Chinese history packet, and have not yet heard back, so I think its inclusion is highly unlikely.

I can write a Chinese history packet. What difficulty would people like to see? Do we require bonuses?

EDIT: Read OP, so I will have bonuses. This packet's gonna be pretty hard.

EDIT 2: Apparently the Chinese history packet will still probably happen, so I'm pulling out of this until further notice.

If at least four teams register for CLEAR II, this will run as planned. Otherwise, I would be inclined to run this in some sort of shootout format, in which case the price would drop to $10 per person. Doubles would also be an option. If you have a format preference, post here or email us.

Thanks for playing, everyone. Stats are up. The set will be posted once any mirrors at summer Side Event Weekends are completed (or once we are aware there are no such mirrors).
