NAQT South Sectionals at the University of Tulsa
Greetings, everyone! The University of Tulsa Academic Bowl Team is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the NAQT South Sectionals Tournament on Saturday February 11th, 2006 in Chapman Hall on the TU campus.
Fees and Discounts:
Base Fee: $120
Additional Teams: $100/each
Operational Buzzer Discount: -$10 (limit 2)
Operational Timer Discount: -$10 (limit 2)
Volunteer Discount: -$10 (only if we use them)***
Travel Discount: -$5/per 100 miles (max of -$25)
NAQT SCT Virgins: -$10 (per school, not team)
Minimum Fee: $60 (per team)
***Volunteers, who would like to participate in the trash tournament on the following Sunday, may instead apply the discount to their team's trash registration. An announcement for the trash tournament will follow this post.
When registering, please indicate to me how many teams you will be bringing, as well as buzzer systems, timers, and volunteers, in addition to the classification(s) of each team. The classifications are thus: Division I, Division I (UG), and Division II. As long as we have at least four teams in both Division I and Division II, the tournament will have separate brackets; if one of the divisions has three or fewer teams, the fields will be combined.
In order to check a player's eligibility, please visit NAQT's website at: <www.naqt.com/division-ii.html>
If you would like to register, or if you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me. Also, if finances are an issue, please let me know, and we will work something out.
I hope to see many of you in Tulsa in February. Until then...
Thanks.
Cheers!

Tulsa Trash Tournament
As promised in the previous post...
The University of Tulsa Academic Bowl Team will be hosting a house-written trash tournament on the Sunday following NAQT South Sectionals (in other words, Sunday February 12th, 2006).
Fees and Discounts:
Base Fee: $60
Additional Teams: $40
Operational Buzzer Discount: -$5 (limit 2)
NAQT SCT Volunteer Discount: -$15 (no limit)
Minimum Fee: $0 (this is possible by supplying four volunteers for SCT)
This tournament will be written by myself and Andy Walz (Captain Morgan and Jose Cuervo, respectively, if you have played us at a TRASH Regionals tournament before).
We plan on preparing 10 preliminary packets, in addition to a championship packet; therefore, every team is guaranteed a maximum of ten matches (not bad for the price).
If any of the other SCT hosts (or anyone else, in general) are interested in mirroring our tournament, we would be open to any and all offers. The full set would be given free of charge to freelance writers who supply us with 10/10 (tossups/bonuses). If interested, please contact me, so that I can give you a detailed breakdown of categories/distributions.
If you would like to register, or if you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me (for e-mail address, see above post). When registering, please indicate to me number of teams and buzzer systems.
Until February...
Thanks.
Cheers!

NAQT Trash Detox
Due to a lack of interest and a lack of time on the part of the writers of the tournament, our NAQT Trash Detox tournament will be postponed until later in the semester.
We plan on hosting an academic tournament towards the end of the semester, at which time, we will again attempt to host our house-written trash tournament.
Moreover, if we wind up not hosting an academic tournament, we still plan on hosting the trash tournament, as a tune-up for TRASHionals.
Cheers!

DII: 11-12 teams
Unconfirmed: 1 team (1 DI Grad)
We still have space for more teams. But please remember that the deadline to register is Saturday February 4th at 11:59pm CST.
That is all for now. Thanks.

Registration
Registration for the 2006 NAQT South SCT is now closed (a day early). The deadline was supposed to happen tomorrow, but since I have heard from every active school in the region, I think that I can safely assume that there will be no further registrations.
Final details/logistics will be posted by Tuesday...
