NAQT Southwest SCT at Tulsa (2/9/08)

Post by jazzerpoet »

Greetings, everyone! The University of Tulsa Academic Bowl Team is pleased to announce that we will be the host for NAQT Southwest SCT 2008, to be held in Chapman Hall on the TU campus on Saturday February 9th, 2008. This is the lone qualifying tournament for NAQT ICT.

Fees and Discounts
Base Fee: $120
Additional Team(s): $100 (per team)
Operational Buzzer Discount: -$10 (limit 2)
Volunteer Discount: -$10 (only if we use them)
Travel Discount: -$5/per 100 miles (max of -$20)
Timer Discount: -$5 (limit 3)
New School Discount: -$40 (per school, not team)*
Minimum Fee: $75 (per team)**

*The "New School" discount applies only to schools who have neither competed in nor hosted NAQT SCT in the past two years.

**The minimum fee for "New Schools" will be $50 per team.

When registering, please indicate to me how many teams you will be bringing, as well as buzzers, timers, and volunteers, in addition to the classification(s) of each team. For this tournament, we will use the following classifications: Division I, Division I (Undergrad), and Division II.

To be eligible to compete in Division II, the following criteria must be met by EVERYONE on the team: 1. The team consists solely of Undergraduate players (no Grad students allowed); 2. No one on the team has qualified for and/or played at NAQT Nationals; 3. Everyone on the team is an actual student at the college/university for which one is playing; 4. No one on the team possesses a Bachelor's degree or higher; 5. No one on the team has played for more than four years in NAQT competitions.

As long as everyone on each specific team meets those requirements, they are eligible for Division II; otherwise, said team is automatically Division I.

If you would like to register, or if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Also, if finances are an issue, please let me know, and we will work something out.

I hope to see many of you in Tulsa in February. Thanks. And Happy New Year!

Cheers!

I would include Truman State under "shows interest" but we probably won't decide until close to the deadline as we have three options that are around 7 hours away so we have to weigh the pros/cons of each.

The field has been updated again.

Also, to those of you who have already registered, I need to receive your final team numbers (and classifications) no later than Tuesday February 5th at 11:59pm CST. If you do not tell me by then, I will assume the lesser of the two numbers. And don't forget to tell me how many buzzers, timers, and volunteers you will be bringing.

Thanks.

Registration Closed

Post by jazzerpoet »

Registration is now closed. And as of right now, we have 17 teams officially registered.

Moreover, I am giving all the schools who have already registered until 11:59pm CST on Tuesday February 5th to add another team. However, due to staffing and room concerns, the field will be capped at 18 teams, so if you want to add a team, be quick about it; first come, first served.

Lastly, it should be noted that priority will be given to a DI team.

Thanks.

Quick reslts:

Harding A won the D-I bracket of four teams by going undefeated.

Truman A won the D-II bracket by also going undefeated, 13-0.

The D-II bracket was rounded out by Mo S&T, KState, Central Arkansas, Hendrix, Truman State B, and OSU A... and I don't remember the rest of the teams/where they placed
