Bump:
Much thanks to David Riley, who ensured that Illinois HS teams would be allowed to attend, as some have already expressed interest.
I have invited several high school teams to come, but I am also inviting HS teams from other states (Indiana, Michigan, Iowa, wherever) to come and play. If you're interested, drop me an email at (username)@uiuc.edu.
Also: While I am permitting HS teams to play, chimera teams (teams with players from different schools) are out.

Re: Midwest EFT Mirror @ UIUC (Saturday, October 4th)
Yeah, this thread needs bumped.
Schools that have registered/expressed interest (college unless indicated):
Lawrence x2
NIU
OSU x2-4
Missouri
Minnesota
Michigan
Truman State
Rockford Auburn (HS)
Michigan
New Trier (HS)
Missouri S&T
Chicago
WUSTL
High schools who compete will not be put in a separate division. I may decide offer awards to the top teams/individuals, but nothing along those lines is set in stone.
If you're not on here and plan on coming, email me at dtaylor1987 at gmail dot com.

Re: Midwest EFT Mirror @ UIUC (Saturday, October 4th)
The tournament will be held in the English Building (two buildings north of Greg Hall, where most our tournaments are). Once I get an idea of the rooms we have and the size of the field, I will email teams details. This means that if you haven't emailed me to tell me you're coming, get on it.
Also, for the sake of official-ness, I am setting the cap at 27 teams. There's still space, so (again) if you're not in and want to be, or your school's in but you have more people willing to play, please inform me of such by emailing dtaylor1987 at gmail dot com.

Re: Midwest EFT Mirror @ UIUC (Saturday, October 4th)
Here's the list of teams, most aren't finalzed:
OSU x3
New Trier
NIU
Missouri S&T
Truman x3
Lawrence x2
Rockford Auburn
WUSTL x2-3
Chicago x?
Minnesota x?
House team (if necessary)
Missouri x1-2
Given my estimate of around 20 teams, the prelims will be a round robin with either two or three brackets. It will be followed by a bracketed playoff (top 2 from each, next two, etc.), then a final if necessary. Once I get a better idea of the field size, I'll make more concrete decisions concerning tournament logistics.

Re: Midwest EFT Mirror @ UIUC (Saturday, October 4th)
Hey everyone who is going to both this tournament and ACF Fall at Truman State,
The new Mizzou team is presumably going to get university recognition in October, which means we will be able to start holding regular practices. Our problem is we don't have our own buzzer system, and won't be able to pay for one at least until we host our first tournament. While we've gotten some help from the 4H club, we can't use their buzzers as often as we need to for practices. I was wondering if anyone coming here has an extra buzzer set that they don't use much that they would be willing to let me take back to MU for a month. We can then return it to you at Truman's ACF Fall. Just email me at [email protected] so we can work this out. Thanks!

Re: Midwest EFT Mirror @ UIUC (Saturday, October 4th)
Update:
Since we were finally able to secure a lecture hall in the vicinity of the game rooms, I can state this: Registration will take place at 8:30 in room 160 of the English Building.
If you're coming from the parking lot next to the Library, take Wright St. (the road that runs north). At the corner is Greg Hall, then Lincoln, then the English Building. Enter on the Northwest side, and go straight. Room 160 should be on your left.
The game rooms will be on the first floor and in the basement. The room set-up is kinda funky. The 110s, 120s, and 130s are found on the central "quad" area, while the 140s and 150s are on the outside. To get to the basement, there are staircases in the middle of the west side and in the southeast corner.
If the two previous paragraphs sound confusing, check out this map.

Re: Midwest EFT Mirror @ UIUC (Saturday, October 4th)
In my semi-conscious stupor as a result of having two midterms in one day, I neglected to post an updated field. Plus, lots of stuff has been happening concerning the teams.
Right now, the field is this:
OSU 1
OSU 2
OSU 3
New Trier
Auburn
NIU
S&T
Truman 1
Truman 2
Truman 3
Depauw
Indiana
WUSTL 1
WUSTL 2
WUSTL 3
Missouri 1
Lawrence 1
Northwestern 1
Minnesota 1
Minnesota 2
Minnesota 3
All of those teams are confirmed. I'd really like a 24-team field, and I'd really like some staffers. Right now, I have nine moderators. If you can bring a reader or two, I would be really grateful. As an enticement, I am looking into feeding staffers.

Re: Midwest EFT Mirror @ UIUC (Saturday, October 4th)
For now, I will give you two teams and waitlist others.
The tournament format will be like the one Chicago used last year for EFT: 3 brackets of 8, RR, followed by rebracketing into 4 groups of 6, RR, then final.
Teams should be in English 160 by 8:30 for registration. If you're running late, call me at (217) 493-4500 so I know what's going on.

Will there be a house team, or do I have counting issues?

You don't, I do. Even when using Excel, I can't count for shit. Not only can I not count, I can't even read! The 24th team is a second Depauw team, which should have been added to the list a week ago.cornfused wrote:Will there be a house team, or do I have counting issues?

In case anyone is curious, Minnesota B (Carson, Spencer, and meee!) defeated Minnesota A (Byrne, Soderholm, Johnson, Gordillo) in a rousing unadvantaged final after we beat Chicago A in a play-in game based on PPG to break a circle of death.
