Written Assessment Procedures
Each participating team may enter 3 students in each of the following written assessment areas: Arts and Humanities, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Each student will be allowed to take only one test as there will be only one testing session. At the time of your arrival, please check with our registration desk and notify them of any changes made in your registration form. Testing numbers may be assigned at this time. Any student not registered by 8:30 will not be eligible for the testing session. The testing session will begin at 8:45 AM and conclude at 9:35 AM. All tests will be occurring simultaneously. All students will stay in the testing room for the entire testing time. Awards will be given to the top 10 competitors in each subject area.

Lightning Round Procedures
Following Written Assessment, students will compete individually in a preliminary round of 10 subject-specific tossups in groups of 8. The top 8 scores (ties broken by written assessment scores first, and then head-to-head sudden-death to advance to finals) will qualify to compete a second and final round of 15 more subject-specific tossups following the Quick Recall championship match and preceding the awards ceremony. Students must participate in Written Assessment in order to qualify to participate in the Lightning Rounds. Students must compete in the same Lightning Round subject as they did for Written Assessment. Awards will be given to the top 8 competitors in each subject area with a trophy awarded to the champion.

Quick Recall Procedures
Quick Recall matches will begin following Lightning Rounds. At least three preliminary rounds will be played to establish rankings. The teams will be seeded and placed into pools with teams with similar records for at least three more Quick Recall rounds. All teams are guaranteed at least six rounds of Quick Recall.
Match rules will follow all Governor’s Cup guidelines.
• The decisions of all room officials will be final in the morning rounds with written inquiries used only in Pool A and Pool B in the afternoon rounds.
• Seeding after the preliminary rounds and rankings to determine placements at the end of the tournament for Quick Recall will follow these criteria in order:
o Win-loss record in pool
o Head-to-head record
o Average first-half points (in all rounds played)
o Coin toss
• The top eight teams will be seeded equally between the top two pools in the afternoon. Seeds 1, 3, 5, and 7 will compete in Pool A and seeds 2, 4, 6, and 8 will compete in Pool B.
• A Quick Recall championship match will be played after the final round of pool play between the champion of Pool A and the champion of Pool B.
*Additional rounds may be necessary depending on the number of teams in competition.
