IAC Middle & Elementary School Nationals - June 7-10 @ Hyatt Regency O'Hare, Rosemont, IL

Post by Marble »

International Academic Competitions is pleased to announce that its 2019 Middle School and Elementary School National Championships are taking place at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare on June 7-10, 2019. IAC Middle and Elementary School Nationals consists of 8 events:

-National History Bee
-National Science Bee
-US Academic Bee
-US Academic Bowl
-National History Bowl
-National Humanities Bee
-US Geography Olympiad
-International Geography Bee

A schedule of when all these events are specifically taking place as well as costs, prizes, and general information on Nationals is found here: www.usacademicbowl.com/nationals/

Note that it is NOT required for teams and students looking to compete in the US Academic Bee and US Academic Bowl to have competed at a prior USABB tournament this year. In fact, per the above linked website, there are many ways to qualify, including finishing in the top 50% at any tournament using standard pyramidal questions this year. Note that the US Academic Bowl and National History Bowl have an Elementary Division for teams composed of all 6th graders and younger.

The six individual student competitions will have 4 age divisions: 8th grade, 7th grade, 6th grade, and 5th grade and younger.

The National History Bee and National Science Bee require qualifying through the Regional Finals (including, optionally, JV History Bee tournaments) tournaments.

The National History Bowl is open to any school with a student competing in the National History Bee at Nationals, or for teams who have qualified at History Bowl regional events.

The US Geography Olympiad and buzzer-based International Geography Bee can be qualified for through May 20 by students who request the qualifying exam with a school proctor and score a passing score (50 for 8th graders, 45 for 7th graders, 40 for 6th graders, 35 for 5th graders and younger). Instructions on how to do this are found here: www.geographyolympiad.com/registration/ ... ying-exam/

The National Humanities Bee is open to students who are qualified for any other event at Nationals, though it takes place at the same time as the US Geography Olympiad so students cannot do both.

For further questions on any events at IAC Nationals, please email [email protected] Thanks, and we hope to see many students and teams at Nationals this June!
