Louisiana 2017-2018

Post by sgoebel »

I believe that all Louisiana tournaments (*that I know of*) are using NAQT sets, so the list there should be complete.

For September, there are two tournaments using the same set - one in Shreveport at Caddo Magnet and the other in New Orleans at Tulane. It looks like most tournament hosts are using the NAQT registration system.

Just to be sure, the format for this tournament was 4 games and then a single-elimination playoff?

Correct. I just added divisions to the stats report to make this more clear.

Are we really back to two state championships again? I take it that relations between the two LQBA factions weren't thawed over the summer, then. It'd be really nice to have one united front for Louisiana quiz bowl.

Are you still looking for a host for the event or is the date the unknown factor right now?

At the moment still trying to solidify a host. If you are interested, please feel free to contact Marshall Mullins at [email protected]. He is handling that tournament. Thanks for asking!

Northern Louisiana history bowl is now scheduled for January 27th at Airline High School. Neville High School is hosting an NAQT tournament on IS-173A on the same day. West Monroe's coach spoke to me about wanting to host a tournament, but since she was eyeing January 27th as well, I'm not sure what she will decide to do.

Edit: The history bowl tournament might be switching dates to January 20th.

A few upcoming tournaments have either recently been added to the NAQT schedule or had details finalized. West Monroe will be hosting a tournament on IS-170 on March 3rd. Carencro will be hosting a tournament on IS-175A on March 10th. St. Paul's School in Covington will be hosting a tournament on April 21st on IS-171A.

Congratulations to Jesuit and Lusher who won their respective divisions at the LQBA State Championship. Stats are available on the NAQT website (https://www.naqt.com/stats/tournament/s ... nt_id=8382) as well as on the hsquizbowl tournament database(http://www.hsquizbowl.org/db/tournaments/5037/). Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make the tournament a success.
