PACE seeking nominations for new members

Post by marianna »

Happy new year! It's that time of year again when the Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence opens up for nominations for new members.

Nominations are due to secretary Michael Hundley at [email protected] by Friday, January 13th at 11:59 PM EST.

PACE has many objectives, among which are:
• to promote and encourage the growth of quality high school invitational tournaments around the country,
• to provide guidance or assistance to other colleges or high schools that wish to organize such tournaments,
• to encourage innovation and creativity in academic competition,
• to establish visibility for college academic team programs that run high school tournaments,
• to foster cooperation among college and high school programs in preparation for upcoming regional, state, or national tournaments,
• to encourage participation of teams in tournaments across the country prior to regional, state, or national tournaments,
• to allow all teams adequate opportunity to practice, compete, and socialize among other fellow competitors,
• to produce the question set for and run the National Scholastic Championship each year.

If you know someone who is exceptionally qualified to contribute to these goals, please consider sending their name, along with a short statement of their track record of contributions thus far, to the email address above.

Please note that current high school students are not eligible. Self-nominations are discouraged.

PACE members commit themselves to helping run the NSC and serving as leaders in their local quizbowl circuits. PACE members pay no dues and contribute largely on a volunteer basis. PACE frequently collaborates with other high school and college academic competition organizations to achieve greater success in its projects.

If you're interested in learning more about what it's like to work for PACE, feel free to take a look at a recent thread on this subject, or reach out to me or any other PACE officer directly by email.

PACE inducts new members twice a year in January and June. PACE seeks out public nominations, and holds internal elections to invite new members. A list of new PACE members will be posted later in January.

Has the list of new PACE members been posted yet, or did I just miss it?

Not yet, we'll announce new members shortly.

Internal voting on nominations is currently occurring. Once internal voting finishes, membership invitations will be sent out. After invitations are accepted or declined, a list of new members will be publically posted.
