Early Fall Tournament (EFT) @ UChicago (10/22/16)

The University of Chicago is delighted to announce that we will be hosting a mirror of Early Fall Tournament (EFT) on Saturday October 22nd, 2016. I, Jason Zhou, will be the tournament director.

Details:
EFT is designed to be an introduction to college quizbowl, so it will hopefully be rewarding for teams of all skill levels, including novices and extremely experienced teams. More information about the tournament can be found in the global announcement. Thus, this tournament is open to all college and high school teams that are interested.

The tournament will be capped at 16 teams for now, as our room reservations are still pending. We are hopeful that there will be demand for more rooms and that we will be able to secure said rooms from the administration.

Cost:
$120 per team

Discounts:
Buzzer systems with at least eight functional buzzers: -$5 each
Buzzer systems with fewer than eight buzzers: -$0 each
Competent staffers: -$10 each No maximum.
Laptop: -$5 each Maximum 1 per team.
Travel: -$10 per 200 miles traveled one way

We have enough rooms for 20 teams, so that will be the new cap as long as we can obtain enough staff.

Northwestern took the tournament by winning the first game of an advantaged final against Chicago A 570 to 130.

Thanks to everyone for coming to the tournament, and especially for dealing with delays between buildings.

Thanks also to our excellent staff for keeping this tournament running quickly.
