Terrapin XXIX UK at Oxford Brookes - 12 November

Post by Belgium »

After the relative success that was MLK 2016, Oxford Brookes University will be hosting the UK mirror of Terrapin on the 12th of November 2016.

Location
Oxford Brookes University (Oxfordshire), John Henry Brookes Building, initial meeting in JHB406.

Fees
These have not yet been set in stone, but are likely to be in the region of £60 to £80 per team, with discounts for providing functioning buzzers and competent moderators.

Payment method
Cash is preferred on the day, though cheques can be arranged. Bank transfer may be possible, but this is not yet confirmed.

You may do so via email at [email protected] or by stating your intentions on the Facebook event page, which will soon be online.

As we have five rooms available, the field has been capped at 11 teams.

8 teams played so we have a full RR followed by a top 4/bottom 4 split. Oxford A went undefeated to clear the field. Aidan Mehigan top scored the prelims with 70.71ppg, followed by me with 60.00 and Ian Bayley with 55.00.

Stats are here:

and

Thanks for Tom for TDing and everyone who came out to moderate and play. I hope everyone had a good time playing a great set.

Many thanks to Joey for helping out with logistics and stats, and congratulations to Oxford A for clearing the field! Also (biased) congratulations to Oxford Brookes for the best win/loss record in recent memory, albeit helped massively by the unusual and perhaps unorthodox presence of Ian Bayley.

Although I will not comment on the actual content of the set (given that other mirrors are still to be run), it was well-written and, aside from one repeated bonus set, well-edited and enjoyable to read. The day was certainly a fun one.
