WAO at University of Waterloo-January 21

Hello!

This is an announcement for the Canadian site of The Brief Wonderous Tournament of WAO(WAO standing for Will Alston Open) which will be taking place at University of Waterloo on Saturday, January 21. The location for this tournament will be the third floor of Douglas Wright Engineering Building (DWE), which those of you who attended ACF Fall will remember. This Regular-Plus difficulty tournament itself is being prepared by Will Alston and a group of editors, and it notably features optional packet submission. More details about the set and packet submission can be found here. Please note the last day to inform the editors you are planing on writing a pack is December 18th and the last date to submit your pack is January 1st.

EDIT: Location and Time
The control room will be DWE 3522, and we will have our opening meeting at 8:30, with games beginning as soon as possible after that.

Eligibility
This is an open-eligibility tournament, with the caveat that teams with open players are required to submit a pack (submission is optional for School teams). Note that "chimera" school teams count as open teams and are required to submit.

Fees and Packet Submission Schedule
School Teams
Base Fee: $140
Discount for Submission on or before December 18th:-$70
Discount for Submission on or before January 1st:-$50

Open Teams
Base Fee: $120
Discount for Submission on or before December 18th:-$20
Discount for Submission on or before January 1st:Being allowed to play the tournament

General Discounts
Buzzer discount:-$5
Staffer discount:-$10
Distance discount (per 321.87 KM between your school and UWaterloo, average for open teams):-$10
Shorthanded Discount (applies only to school teams):-$20 per player missing

Other Information
Free weekend parking can be found in Lot X (behind optometry buildings at Columbia/Hagey). Please pay in Cash on the day of the tournament. A variety of food options including Waterloo's legendary Mr. Panino's Beijing House can be found in "Unviersity Plaza" located just to the East of Campus on University Avenue. This tournament will feature a playing of a FESTIVUS side event following the conclusion of WAO on Saturday evening. In order to decide which to play, I have created a spreadsheet for voting Here! Please put your name next to the packets you are interested in, and I'll attempt to draw up an agreeable schedule.

Also, share these to your friends who will be there but don't browse hsqb!

Annnddd at lunch we have a three way Circle between Toronto, McGill and Joe Su's open team, who handed Toronto their first loss of the year. A second round robin to come starting at 2PM. Enjoy your paninos!
