WAO @ the University of Florida (1-21-17)

Post by TaylorH »

I am pleased to announce the southeastern mirror of the Will Alston Open (WAO) to be held at the University of Florida in Gainesville on January 21st. Details about the set can be found here:
http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... =8&t=19306.

Eligibility & fees:
School Teams: Packet submission optional. $140 base fee; $70 discount for submission by December 18th, $50 discount for submission by January 1st.
Open Teams: Packet submission required. $120 base fee; $20 discount for submission by December 18th.
I do not think that any teams in the region I anticipate attending have submitted packets by the above deadlines, but the discounts still apply if I am wrong.

Discounts
-$5/buzzer
-$10/staffer and laptop
-$10/200 miles driven, one-way, to UF

Registration: To register email me the your number of teams, staffers, and buzzers and status as a school or open team at [email protected]

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Hope to see you in Gainesville!

The tournament will be held on UF campus in Little Hall. Meet in Little Hall room 203 initially. Parking is lifted on the weekend, so any on campus parking is fair game. The is a parking lot right next to Little Hall that would be most convenient. Registration starts at 8AM with matches starting no later than 9AM. The field stands at 9, so we will be playing a round robin, followed by a top 3/middle 3/bottom 3 second round robin. This will be 10 games for everyone in 12 rounds.

If you have any questions please contact me at [email protected]

If none of the teams participating submitted a packet, would it be better to have 8 or 10 teams instead?

FSU has pulled out last minute so there will in fact be only eight teams, which somewhat simplifies the schedule.
