Oxford Open 2018

Post by Slightly Less British »

This is the announcement for Oxford Open 2018, the annual quiz tournament written and hosted by Oxford University Quiz Society! The tournament will be hosted on February 10th 2018, and the field will be open: teams of any four people, students, alumni or otherwise, are encouraged to attend.

Unlike in previous years, this tournament will NOT be packet submission. The distribution will be as follows:
1/1 Biology
1/1 Chemistry
1/1 Physics
1/1 Other Science
1/1 British Literature
1/1 American Literature
1/1 European Literature
1/1 British/World/Miscellaneous Literature
1/1 British History
1/1 European History
1/1 World History
1/1 British/Miscellaneous History
1/1 Visual Fine Arts
1/1 Auditory Fine Arts
1/1 Other Fine Arts
0.75/0.75 Religion
0.75/0.75 Mythology
0.75/0.75 Philosophy
0.75/0.75 Social Science
1/1 Geography
1/1 Miscellaneous

The difficulty of the tournament will be roughly the same as previous editions of OOT.

To register for this tournament, please email [email protected] with your name and your team's name. I will only accept email entries from 18:00 BST on Monday 18th September: any emails before then will not result in your team's registration.

As in previous years, the field will be likely to be capped at 24 teams, and a waiting list will be kept in case of teams dropping out.

The base entry fee will be £60 per team, with a £5 discount for bringing a buzzer set and a £20 discount if multiple members of your team have to travel by aeroplane to get to the tournament.

There are likely to be side tournaments held the day after OOT; stay tuned for details of those.

If you have any queries about the tournament, please email [email protected].
